Life Events

As a parish church, it is our priviledge to host events marking a range of life stages. Click below to find out about the different services we offer.

Baby Baptism Ceremony

Infant Baptisms & Thanksgivings

If you want to bring your child up in the Christian faith as a member of the family of the church, then a Baptism or Thanksgiving could be for you. Both are joyful events that take during public worship at Holy Trinity.

At an infant baptism service the parents speak for a child, make promises about how they will bring up their child, and affirm their own faith. In the service we pray that the child will affirm these promises for themselves once they are older. You can read the baptism promises here- it is good to consider whether you and the Godparents you choose are ready to make these public promises. To have your child baptised, parents must themselves be followers of Jesus, and either attend HT Redhill or live within the parish. Before we arrange a baptism service we invite parents to come to one of our services to meet us, and then attend a short two part baptism course. This course covers the promises you make in baptism and some practicalities around the service itself.

If you want to thank God for your child, or want to bring your child up as a believer but don't want to baptise them, then we offer a service of thanksgiving. This involves prayers of thanksgiving for the baby, and words and promises for the parents to say. The minister will take your child into their arms and pray for them - Jesus did something very similar, and that’s why we do it today.

Adult Baptism

One of the great joys in church life is when someone comes to faith in Jesus - this may be someone who grew up in the church and has made the faith of their parents their own, or it may be someone who has heard the gospel as an adult and come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. The bible teaches that when someone comes to faith, they are to be baptised to signify dying to their old life and being raised to new life in Christ. We have a baptistry available to use for full immersion baptisms, and would love to speak to you about this if you wish to take this step in your faith journey.

Weddings

We love to celebrate weddings at HT Redhill. If at least one of the Bride and Groom attend HT or live in our parish, then you can get married at our church.

We offer a marriage preparation course - three sessions designed to help couples build strong and happy marriages, or if you are in the early stages of considering a church wedding our Vicar Mick would be very happy to chat with you.

The current marriage service together with advice and tips about different aspects of planning your wedding can be found on The Church of England website www.yourchurchwedding.org.

Funerals

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping. Funerals can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church. Every funeral service at Holy Trinity begins with Jesus' words: "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.", and in the the funeral service we will reflect on the hope and comfort that Jesus' words offer.

Normally, the Funeral Director will make first contact with the church, then a church minister will get in touch with the family.
