‘Roadmap to Return!’
I’m pleased to be able to bring you some dates and details about returning to our buildings for worship, and for youth and children’s ministry.
Sunday 21st March
We will return with a 4pm Family Praise in the church building. We look forward to welcoming children and parents to this service. See Lizzie’s notice below about a start date for Youth Ministry, but until that begins all our young people are invited to join us in the 4pm service.
Sunday 28th March
We will meet together in church for a 10am Service of Worship and Word as well as the 4pm service. The 10am service on YouTube will continue to be offered alongside this.
There will be a Good Friday service and an Easter Sunday service in the church building. An Easter postcard with details of Easter Services at HT is being produced, but details can also be found at the end of this email.
Worship on Wednesdays – 10.30am
The Rendezvous Planning Team has settled on Wednesday 7th April as the date to return to our midweek worship. This is the first Wednesday after Easter. The Rendezvous Afternoon Tea will continue online until we are able to enjoy refreshments together in person.
At present, the risk-reduction measures that we have become used to will need to remain in place, but my hope is that they will feel like minor inconveniences compared with the delight of being in the presence of God and one another! And it does feel like the end of these restrictions is in sight…
Please pre-book for all the above via firstname.lastname@example.org
Very exciting news - in-person youth ministry at Holy Trinity is returning!! We are planning that mid-week youth groups, Rock Solid and Focus, will be starting again in person in the church centre from Monday 19th April, and we will return to in person Rock Solid from Sunday 18th April during the 4pm Family Praise. We will of course be doing thorough risk assessments before these start and we will still need to observe government guidelines during our sessions. But it will be really great to see the young people face to face again and spend time with them. Lizzie Baker
Dave Arrowsmith and the staff team are currently discussing plans to reintroduce our Sunday children’s groups. Meanwhile we invite families to join us at Family Praise at 4pm on Sundays. Further information to follow.
Serving in the body of Christ
I mentioned in Headlines that there will be a ‘rebuilding’ work to be done as we return to a pattern of ministry and worship. Some who have served for many years in areas such as welcoming, verging, Audio Visual, teaching and helping in our children’s ministry will need to continue to shield or now feel that the time has come to step down. This creates a crisis which is also an opportunity – could you join a team to help make our Sunday services and activities run smoothly?
In my sermon on Sunday we heard the counter-cultural message of Jesus: ‘Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.’ My challenge to us as a church was this:
There’s a moment of opportunity to re-evaluate our lives as freedoms return – what will we choose? Let’s not make it our aim to go comfortably or safely into these coming months and years. Let’s go faithfully, take risks, make sacrifices for the sake of following Jesus, giving up our lives in order to regain them in him.
Might you consider offering to serve Jesus in one of the many teams that make Sundays at Holy Trinity possible? Please do pray. The church office, churchwardens or the clergy would be very happy to talk to you about where you might ‘fit’!
